Zisis Papalexiou was born and raised in Thessaloniki in May 1977. From a young age, he
had a habit and talent for painting, and his parents enrolled him in painting classes for youth
at U.M.C.A Thessalonikis, where he was the youngest student in junior high. He stayed at
U.M.C.A for two years and participated in the annual exhibition with three of his works in
charcoal and color. Later, he attended a year of free drawing classes at the Pythagoras
Private School as part of his broader studies in graphic design, where he worked for fifteen
years as a graphic designer. He returned to painting in 2016 with iconography lessons,
where he remained for four years creating many Byzantine icons. At the same time, he
paints his own contemporary works with a main theme of abstract portraiture. He then took
drawing and abstract lessons at the KARLAS artistic workshop, where he continues his
works today.
