Christaleni Alifieraki was born in Chania in 1985. She studied painting at the School of Fine Arts, Department of Visual Arts and Art Sciences of the University of Ioannina, from which she graduated in 2022 (MFA). In addition, in 2010 she graduated from the Department of Visual Arts and Art Sciences of the University of Ioannina. She lives and works in Chania as a visual artist and an art teacher.
She has participated in group exhibitions in Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Chania) and in the USA (Massachusetts/Boston, Ohio, Washington/Seattle). Artworks of hers belong to private collections in Greece and abroad.
Thread as a visual medium has been a field of experimentation and exploration in her works since 2015, sometimes more densely and sometimes more sparsely over time. Through her work, she explores the visual possibilities of thread, the dynamics between representation and abstraction, while at the same time attempting to give embroidery new possibilities of expression, illustration and narration, now seen from a contemporary visual perspective.
